Our Story

1953

How it Started

Former FBI agents in Cleveland Ohio founded the firm Research Associates Inc. (RAI) a firm focused on Private and workers compensation investigations.

1954

Legal Leaders

RAI becomes the go to investigators for a Top 10 Am Law Firm; who remains a client to this day.

1964

Pioneers

RAI originates the pre-employment background check.

1967

Big Firms Notice

RAI’s results catches the eye of a Big 8 accounting firm; who remains a client to this day.

1974

RAI Goes Global

As client’s needs expanded across borders RAI’s services followed.

1997

Big 8 is now 4

RAI’s continued execution in the professional service industry results in a second Big 4 accounting firm; who remains a client to this day.

2003

Word Spreads

As professional service organizations are amazed with RAI’s quality of work our second Top 10 Am Law firm becomes our partner; who remains a client to this day.

2024

New Ownership

RAI is acquired by former EY Entrepreneurs of the Year with a strong track record in HR tech and scaling businesses.

2025

New Name Same Results

RAI is rebranded to a name that represents our company, our people, our process and our results: Thuro.

Today

Thuro has expanded from our Cleveland, OH roots to 2 new offices in Rochester, NY and Houston, TX.
